Contact points for the public – locations of emergency lighthouses

In an emergency, Berlin’s boroughs will open the contact points (“lighthouses”) shown in the overview as needed. Announcements will be made to inform the public. Then you can go to the nearest lighthouse for information and assistance.

The emergency lighthouses will open in exceptional situations – for example, the threat of a long blackout that would severely limit public communication or the power supply. The main purpose of the lighthouses will be sharing information. The lighthouses will provide information and limited assistance, such as taking and forwarding emergency calls.
Each borough decides independently where its lighthouses should be located, determines when and how long to open them, and informs the public accordingly. In addition to the lighthouses listed here, boroughs may open mobile lighthouses and set up “information points” in locations like schools or community centers.
Currently the boroughs are planning to operate 37 emergency lighthouses themselves at specified locations and offer 147 information points staffed by volunteers.
The map and address list also contain links to borough websites with more information, if available. Locations for which preparations have been fully completed are also marked as “betriebsbereit” (operational).

If you are in danger:
Dial 112 for the fire brigade and paramedics or 110 for the police.

If telephone service is unavailable:
Speak to a responder on site, if possible. Public transit employees and taxi drivers are also able to radio for help.

Pay attention to information provided by authorities on site, such loudspeaker announcements. Important alerts will also be broadcast over radio and television and may be shared in the NINA warning app or posted in public places.

Keep batteries on hand for radios and remember that car radios are an option when the power goes out. Neighbors should inform and help one another.
