Availability and procedures of the Ombudsman

Every natural or legal person can contact the Public and Police Services Ombudsman verbally or in writing.

For complaints please use the contact form or write to the following address:

Bürger- und Polizeibeauftragter des Landes Berlin
Alt-Moabit 60
10555 Berlin

You can also arrange a discussion in person via the contact form or by telephone on +49 (30) 90172 – 8500.

Complaints should at least include the name and address of the complainant as well as the facts of the matter. Please always include your email address and telephone number, if possible. It is very helpful for us if you briefly describe your issue and the facts underlying it. We will get in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss further steps.

The Ombudsman and his staff are obligated to treat the information they receive as strictly confidential. Moreover, they are not subject to the obligation to prosecute. But we generally do not process complaints for which the submitter is unknown to us.

As far as possible, an amicable solution will be sought by means of a personal, confidential discussion with you and the authorities concerned. The procedure will always be coordinated with you.
