As of today, our clients can now only use the respective contact form to contact the departments in Sections A, B and E digitally about individual matters.
We ask you for your understanding in this matter.
The Immigration Office currently receives thousands of emails every week, including many duplicates and also those addressed to the wrong department. Much of our capacity is spent organising these internally, meaning that this capacity is not available for issuing residence titles and other Immigration Office services. This is not in the interests of our clients, who above all require services as quickly as possible.
By switching to contact forms, enquiries only arrive with those offices responsible for the respective service, and duplicate emails can be avoided. The contact forms are also in a structured format. They ask for data that allows the enquiry to be assigned and processed quickly. This measure also serves to protect client data privacy, in that all attachments are additionally scanned for viruses and our capacity to work is not compromised by cyber attacks.
Please be assured that we will process every message received via a contact form as quickly as possible. Please refrain from sending enquiries concerning the status of a process. An application for issue or extension of a residence permit or Blue Card submitted on time via contact form generally serves as a temporary permit (“Fiktionswirkung”) until you receive an appointment. In other words: your residence title (residence permit, Blue Card or visa for a long-term stay), together with the ancillary provisions, is deemed lawful within German federal territory until you have your interview at the Immigration Office. This means that even if your residence title expires you can continue to work or study to the same extent as before. You will receive confirmation of this when you submit the completed contact form. Please save this document and print a copy if possible.
