Eltern-Kind-Kochen

Would you like to make contact with other parents and their children? Would you like to chat about the challenges, big and small, of bringing up a family? Do you have any questions about the development and upbringing of your child? Would you like to get some advice about everyday life with a child? Why not visit your local family centre?
The Youth Welfare Office offers support for mothers, fathers and other legal guardians and helps them to take on their parental responsibilities. Pregnant mothers and future parents are offered information and advice to help them prepare for parenthood.
To achieve this, the Youth Welfare Office works with independent youth counsellors, who offer opportunities to meet families, family support and education. In family centres, local community centres and meeting points and in some nurseries and schools, you can benefit from these family support services.
There is a wide variety of services on offer, from family cafés, leisure activities, (bilingual) playgroups, talks on health and education topics, special offers for fathers, courses such as “baby massage” and “strong parents – strong children”, as well as advisory services.

Family centres and family meeting points

In each of the district’s eight social communities, there is at least one family centre or family meeting point offering special services for family training, opportunities to meet others and advice.
The services available from family centres are aimed at visitors from the close vicinity and further afield.
Family meeting points are smaller establishments. They provide a variety of services, but do not cover the entire spectrum offered by family centres. Family meeting points and parent cafés can also be a part of children’s leisure centres, nurseries or schools.
