Über Amelia Seymour

Amelia Seymour ist eine interdisziplinäre Künstlerin und Pädagogin mit einem besonderen Interesse an interkultureller Kommunikation. Sie betrachtet Kunst und Sprache als miteinander verflochtene und untrennbare Formen der Kommunikation, was sich in ihrer Arbeit als Künstlerin und Pädagogin stark widerspiegelt.
Sie wurde 1970 in Stockton, Kalifornien geboren und lebt und arbeitet seit 1998 in Berlin. Ihr bisheriges Leben hat sie über Salt Lake City (Utah), Coronado (Kalifornien), New York City (New York), San Francisco (Kalifornien) und Marseille (Frankreich) nach Berlin geführt. Sie studierte am California College of Arts, Oakland (Kalifornien) und erhielt einen Abschluss als Meisterschülerin in der Klasse von Rebecca Horn an der Universität der Künste (UdK) in Berlin.
“Indem ich die Konstrukte von Identität, Image, gesellschaftlichen Wahrnehmungen und Projektionen untersuche und immer wieder in Frage stelle, hoffe ich, ein wenig mehr Mitgefühl und Respekt in einer Welt voller Missverständnisse und angstbasierter Urteile zu wecken”, blickt Amelia Seymour auf ihr Wirken.

About Amelia Seymour

Amelia Seymour is an interdisciplinary artist and educator with a special interest in intercultural communication. She regards art and language as intertwined and inseparable forms of communication, which is strongly reflected in her work as an artist and educator.
She was born in Stockton, California in 1970 and has been living and working in Berlin since 1998. Life has taken her via Salt Lake City (Utah), Coronado California), New York City (New York), San Francisco (California) and Marseille (France) to Berlin. She studied at the California College of Arts, Oakland (California) and received a degree as a master student in the class of Rebecca Horn at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin.
‘Through examining and endlessly questioning the constructs of identity, image, societal perceptions and projections,I hope to inspire a bit more compassion and respect in a world of misunderstandings and fear-based judgements,’ Amelia Seymour describes her approach.
