Production location for companies in the fields of sustainable and efficient technologies
This ninety-hectare site is set to become Berlin’s largest industrial park. With its potential for space and development for commerce and industry, the CleanTech Marzahn appeals particularly to manufacturing companies in the fields of sustainable and efficient technologies. Its offer is primarily geared toward businesses from the industries of green energy production and storage, energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, circular economy, resource and material efficiency, sustainable water management and green chemistry.
Given the site’s ability to service a key future sector, the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises regards this as one of the future locations in Berlin. Moreover, as a unique feature and despite its inner-city location, the park offers a core zone for facilities dealing with hazardous substances in accordance with German federal immission control regulations. This special feature enables the site to accommodate nearly all industrial production processes, even those not permitted in other building zones. The industrial park borders the Berlin eastside trade area which is already home to around 2,500 businesses, and the CleanTech Innovation Center as co-working space for startups.
The Senate Department has earmarked a total of EUR 43 million from GRW funds to develop the CleanTech Business Park infrastructure and to prepare plots for construction. All construction activities including utility installations and access roads have been completed in 2015.
