Funding programme for women artists in film/video

Online applications must have been fully submitted by 2 p.m. After 2 p.m., an upload is no longer possible; transmissions that have started are automatically cancelled.

Notes on formal exclusion

Exceeding the maximum number of pages and/or maximum data volume as well as number of reference films and film excerpts can lead to formal exclusion from the jury process. Submitting incomplete identity documents can lead to formal exclusion, too. Please make sure to submit all necessary attachments in the right format!

Online information event

There will be an online information session for all applicants on 4 September 2024, 2 – 3:30 p.m. (in German language).

Target group / Purpose of funding

The work stipends are intended for the artistic development of professional female film and video makers. This is a women-specific support programme. Funding is provided for projects for a limited duration, such as script-writing, for research and/or other aspects of pre-production/production or post-production of films.

Eligibility and conditions

• The female filmmakers have won recognition for the quality of their work and are able to provide samples from their portfolio.
• The filmmakers applying to this programme must have their main place of residence in Berlin.
• Projects that serve the realization of video installations are not funded.
• Students (including doctoral candidates) and female professors are excluded from submitting an application.
• The online applications must be completed and submitted in German.

Funding volume

The work stipends amount to € 2,000 per month. They are usually awarded for a period of four to six months depending on the specific requirements of the project – subject to the availability of funds.

Call for applications

A call for applications to this programme is issued in August for the following year.
