Introducing informal participation guidelines

The “Stelle für Koordination und Beteiligung” (“Office for Coordination and Participation”, in short OE SPK) presented the district guidelines for citizen participation, outlining their principles and instruments. They highlighted the significant role of the newly established contact point and the (forth-)coming district’s projects list in increasing transparency and accessibility to participation opportunities for citizens.
The commissioned urban planning office AG.URBAN presented the new name, tasks, and advisory services offered by the district contact point. From now on, citizens can access information and seek advice on all aspects of participation at the Raum für Beteiligung Tempelhof-Schöneberg.

Shaping good participation together

A lively fishbowl discussion brought together representatives from politics, administration, organised civil society, the Raum für Beteiligung Tempelhof-Schöneberg, and members of the audience. They exchanged their perspective on the topic of participation within and near the district, focusing on practical approaches. During the dialogue, the administration emphasised the challenges in reconciling diverse interests when implementing district projects. Limited human or financial resources also make it difficult to carry out additional informal participation beyond the legal framework. A significant emphasis was placed on inclusivity, recognizing target group-oriented approaches and suitable participation methods that address the diverse citizenship, such as children and young people, elderly people, people with disabilities, and people from various backgrounds. It is certain that the dialogue between the administration and the citizens continues to be important and expandable as part of the district’s participation processes. The Raum für Beteiligung Tempelhof-Schöneberg will support the administration in the future and engage with people directly in their living environment, inform them and provide them with clear information about their participation opportunities in the district.

Interactive marketplace for participation

At the marketplace, guests were able to talk to the team from the Raum für Beteiligung Tempelhof-Schöneberg, which presented the district’s projects list currently being developed. Together, they discussed current topics, projects, and special features of the district regions on a walk-over district map. A digital district quiz challenged the attendees’ knowledge, while a photo exhibition showcased the new consultation locations of the Raum für Beteiligung Tempelhof-Schöneberg throughout the district. Other stands from the Tempelhof-Schöneberg “Stelle für Koordination und Beteiligung“ (“Office for Coordination and Participation”, in short OE SPK), the Mariendorf-Tempelhof BENN office (Berlin Develops New Neighbourhoods programme), the Tempelhof-Schöneberg Children’s and Youth Parliament, and the Zentraler Raum für Beteiligung of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building, and Housing provided information about further district participation opportunities.
The kick-off event ended with a relaxed get-together with drinks and a buffet, allowing everyone to socialise.
The Raum für Beteiligung Tempelhof-Schöneberg team warmly thanks all participants and is looking forward to exciting participation processes!
