Whether Potsdamer Platz or Alexanderplatz – Berlin is growing upwards in many places. But how are the buildings in the capital actually constructed in principle?
Here you can find precise statements on the height and structure of buildings in Berlin, based on small spaces. Since 2009, the so-called “vertical extent” of the city has been recorded. While in 2009/2010 the first elaboration of the at that time still common data set “building and vegetation heights” was realised, the building height is now based on the three-dimensional building model Berlin.
The maps that can be viewed here provide an impressive insight into the height structure of Berlin’s buildings: from the television tower and “Upper-West” to the large housing estates and the block development of tenement housing.
