Venue funding

Target group / Purpose of funding

Funding is available through this programme to the operators of venues for the performance and production of work in the performing arts. Subsidies allocated through this programme may be used for the purpose of investment in alterations and additions, maintenance, equipment, and/or the operation of the venue in question for a period of up to two years. Funding is available through this programme to theatres and theatre/dance groups operating as private entities. This programme was established not with the objective of preserving existing infrastructure, but to promote the production of work of artistic merit.

Eligibility and conditions

• Funding is available to venues which have distinguished themselves through the quality of their programming.
• Existing venues in Berlin for the production and/or performance of work in the performing arts are eligible for funding under this programme.

Funding volume

Funding may be allocated through this programme for a period of one or two years for the purpose of undertaking investments in alterations and additions or otherwise maintaining or furnishing venues used for performance and/or production purposes, and/or for the operation of such venues.

Call for applications

A call for applications to the one-year programme is usually issued in May of each year for the following year.

A call for applications to the two-year programme is usually issued in December of each year for the year after the next.
