Concept funding
Target group / Purpose of funding
Established in 1999, this programme provides funding to small and medium-sized private theatres and independent dance/theatre ensembles with the aim of facilitating long-term planning over a specific period.
Eligibility and conditions
- Small and medium-sized private theatres and independent dance/theatre ensembles with a track record of producing high-calibre work that resonates with audiences and critics are eligible for funding through this programme.
- Theatres/ensembles are required to present a performance and production concept for the funding period. As a rule, concepts presented to the Senate Department for Culture and Europe are assessed by a jury of up to three experts.
Funding volume
Concept funding is awarded for a period of four years and encompasses all operating costs incurred during this period.
Call for applications
The next call for applications (for the funding period 2019-2022) for concept funding for theatres and ensembles operating as private entities will be made on 31 January 2017.
Application procedure
Your informal application to this programme should be submitted in quadruplicate.
Applications should be accompanied by an artistic concept for the four-year funding period together with a planning overview and details on its implementation (incl. financing) for the first two years of the funding period.
