Berlin wants to lift the 2G rule not only for retailers, but also for museums, galleries, and memorial sites.
This was announced by Berlin's Senator for Health Ulrike Gote on Monday (Feb. 14, 2022) in the Health Committee of the House of Representatives. She said this should also apply to the Berlin Zoo including the aquarium, the Botanical Garden, and other tourist attractions. The draft amendment is to be voted on at Tuesday's Senate meeting.
Instead of the 2G rule, which allows only vaccinated and recovered people to enter many stores and cultural locations, an FFP2 mask requirement will apply in the future. Loosening the access restrictions for restaurants, on the other hand, is not yet planned, Gote said. She announced that the Senate would also look at what the next steps might be. "We will hear experts on this and have a joint discussion."
