Berlin's 46th Christopher Street Day is taking place on Saturday. In Mitte and Tiergarten in particular, road users must be prepared for considerable restrictions.
As last year, the route of this year's CSD will lead from Leipziger Straße via Potsdamer Platz and Nollendorfplatz to Straße des 17. Juni, where the final rally will take place between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate.
Straße des 17. Juni, Ebertstraße and Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße in Tiergarten have been closed since the beginning of June for the European Football Championship fan mile. These closures will remain in place for VeloCity at the beginning of August and will be removed on August 5.
In addition, Altonaer Straße between Klopstockstraße and Grosser Stern and Leipziger Straße between Charlottenstraße and Axel-Springer Straße will be completely closed on Saturday. Considerable restrictions are to be expected on the demonstration route between 12 noon and 7 pm. The Berlin Traffic Information Centre (VIZ) recommends that road users avoid the area as far as possible.
All interested parties are strongly advised to travel by public transport. Due to the expected high number of visitors, the Brandenburg Gate, Bundestag and Nollendorfplatz railway stations will probably have to be closed during the course of the day. In this case, the affected trains will run through the stations without stopping.
