2700 practices involved in vaccinations

Around 20,000 Covid vaccinations per day were administered in medical practices in the first week of January. The number was given by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians upon request. Last Monday (January 10, 2022), 13,000 vaccinations were administered, while on Tuesday the number was at around 20,000, spokeswoman Dörthe Arnold told the German Press Agency. According to the available information, around 2700 medical practices participate in the vaccinations against Covid-19 throughout Berlin.

75.8 percent of people received first vaccination in Berlin

"Our highest-vaccination month ever was December," Arnold said. "That's when 660,000 vaccinations were administered in the practices. That's when things really took off." Before December, the strongest month to date had been June of 2021, with 570,000 vaccinations administered. According to the Senate's Coronavirus situation report, so far a total of 6,930,392 Coronavirus vaccinations were administerd across Berlin. 75.8 percent of people in Berlin have received a first vaccination, and 72.9 percent have received the immune protection of usually two vaccinations. Berlin's Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey said on Tuesday that she expects a quota of 50 percent for booster vaccinations to be reached in Berlin in the next few days.

Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians takes critical view of vaccinations in pharmacies

The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Berlin had already spoken out against pharmacies participating in the vaccination campaign at the beginning of December. The board of the association justified this point of view with, among other things, the fact that the number of vaccine doses available for participating practices is already insufficient. This assessment has not changed. "Sufficient vaccine is currently still not available," Arnold said.

As long as this is the case, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians remains critical of the involvement of pharmacists, dentists or veterinarians in Coronavirus vaccinations. With regard to pharmacies, the association is fundamentally skeptical. If sufficient vaccine doses are available for all, one might consider involving dentists and veterinarians, Arnold said.
