The large housing estate Falkenhagener Feld owes its existence to the housing shortage in West Berlin during the early 1960s. The natue of the Spektegrünzug in the south of the district offers opportunities for recreation.

The housing estate Falkenhagener Feld was built between 1960 and 1990 in response to the housing shortage in the former West Berlin. Before that, the area only featured some allotment gardens and was mainly used for agriculture.

Falkenhagener Chaussee

The expressionist houses on Zeppelinstraße with their four towers date from the 1920s and serve as the "entrance" to the housing estate. Its main traffic axis is Falkenseer Chaussee: gastronomy and local amenities are located along the busy six-lane road. There are also some areas of single-family houses, especially in the direction of Falkensee.

Local Recreation Area Spektegrünzug

The southern border of the neighborhood is the recreational area Spektegrünzug. This green corridor got its name from the Spekte, a small stream that was originally created to drain the area. The Spekte lakes are former gravel pits that have since been renaturalized. Today there is a sunbathing lawn and bathing area at the Großer Spektesee. The northern border of the neighborhood is delimited by the Spandau Forest.

Falkenhagener Feld

The apartment blocks of the Falkenhagener Feld housing estate are built in rows with individual high-rise buildings and large building complexes in between. Many of the apartments are designated for social housing. In the foothills of the neighborhood there are also some detached houses and apartment buildings surrounded by small gardens.
