Freelancers, companies and start-ups are often confronted with the task of initiating processes and formalities with several administrative bodies and gathering together various items of information.

In order to make it easier for them to exercise service activities, the Points of Single Contact (Einheitliche Ansprechpartner) have been in place since the end of 2009 as central contact points in the EU member states. Their number and organisation varies from one member state to another.

In Germany, there is one Point of Single Contact per federal state which varies in its orientation from one state to another based on the regional situation and existing structures.

Point of Single Contact Berlin

The Point of Single Contact in the State of Berlin (Einheitlicher Ansprechpartner Berlin, short: EA Berlin) is located within the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises (Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe).

EA Berlin is your first port of call if you wish to:
  • start a business in Berlin (company registering)
  • register, re-register or deregister a business online
  • found a craft undertaking in Berlin
  • start freelance work
  • undertake cross-border services
  • recognise your professional qualification

However, EA Berlin is not only an informant and advisor with respect to all your entrepreneurial questions and affair, but also acts as your process guide: It accepts your forms and documents and forwards these to the relevant administrative bodies. Thus, everything is centrally bundled and coordinated in the process.
