Since 2012 we have a sponsorship for the grave of Anna Dorothea Lion (née Kümmel) and her three daughters Alice (1881–1961), Agnes (1885–1971) and Gertrud (1882–1966) at the St. Matthäus Cemetery in Berlin-Schöneberg. Anna’s husband and father of her three daughters was Hermann Lion (1852–1926).
In the meantime we found out, that Hermann and Agnes Lion had another daughter, Toni Berta Elisabeth Lion (born 1890 in Berlin). She was a teacher in Berlin, Romania and Madrid, before she married Karl Christian Heinrich Winsiffer in October 1928 in Madrid. Alice, Agnes and Gertrud also worked as teachers in Berlin until 1933 (Victoria Fachschule, among others).
The three sisters lived together in Alvenslebenstraße 17 (1926–1931), Innsbrucker Straße 19 (1933/1934), Bamberger Straße 24 (1935–1943) and since 1955 in Potsdamer Chaussee 20 (Zehlendorf).
The Lion family includes names like Boehm, Deutsch, van Emden, Engel, Friedländer, Gradenwitz, Hasslacher, Hirschlaff, Jerrems, Kuczynski, Lewin, Packscher, Rosenbacher, Siber, Simon, Stein, Stern (historian Fritz Stern), Treuenfels, Weinbauer, Weiss, Wollheim und Wulkan.
We are trying to find out as much as possible about the Lion family and take this opportunity to maybe find someone who has information about them.
