Berlin’s economy continues to expand, and numerous new jobs are being created.

Berlin can be pleased with rapid economic growth. Both the increase in gross domestic product and the number of people in work are above the national average.

In 2022, gross domestic product grew by 4.9 percent year-on-year in price-adjusted terms (2021: 3.2 percent). This means that Berlin has the second-highest growth rate in a nationwide comparison. This is 1.9 percent higher than 2019, the year before the Corona pandemic began.

The number of employed persons increased by 3.4 percent year-on-year in 2022. This puts Berlin in first place nationwide. The nationwide average was +1.3 percent. Compared to 2019, over 89,000 more people were employed (+4.3 percent).
