Incidence in Berlin rises to almost 190

Corona-Tests

The corona incidence in Berlin was just under 190 on Thursday.

This value for new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week was announced by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). A week ago, the incidence was still around 250. Nationwide, the weekly value was given as 221 on Thursday.

Statistics only record positive PCR tests

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. For some time, experts have been assuming a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI - due to overburdened health offices and because not all infected persons have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

More than 1,050,000 cases since the start of the pandemic

According to the RKI, 1912 new infections were reported for Berlin within one day. The total number of registered cases has risen to more than 1,050,000 since the start of the pandemic in spring 2020. Three additional deaths were reported. According to the official figures, there have thus been 4616 deaths related to Corona infections in Berlin since the start of the pandemic.
