In Berlin and Brandenburg, thunderstorms, some of them severe, may occur in the course of Friday into the night. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a severe weather forecast.
Local storm gusts of up to 85 kilometres per hour and hail with grain sizes of up to 2 cm are possible. Heavy rainfall of up to 30 litres per square metre within an hour is also to be expected. However, according to the DWD, it is still uncertain whether the storms will materialise in exactly the forecasted way. In Berlin, an additional official warning for severe thunderstorms is in force this morning, initially until 9.30 am.
With hot and humid temperatures of 29 degrees, the day will start off cloudy but largely dry. Later, there will be repeated spells of thunderstorms with a localised risk of heavy rain and hail, which will continue into Saturday night. During the night it will cool down to 16 degrees. On Saturday, the thunderstorms and showers will slowly subside. However, it will remain cloudy with highs of 25 degrees. Temperatures will drop to 11 degrees during the night. On Sunday, it will continue to clear up and the sun will fight its way through the clouds. With daytime temperatures similar to the previous day, the week will end on a friendly note, according to the DWD.
