Young people discuss Tempelhofer Feld

Tempelhofer Feld

Children and young people are also involved in the discussion about the future of Tempelhofer Feld and a possible development on its edge. Almost 200 people between the ages of 6 and 19 took part in the workshops offered as part of the so-called dialog process in July, according to the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing.

The aim was to give them the opportunity to contribute their points of view to the discussion at an early stage and to express their wishes or suggestions. Among other things, there were also photo excursions across the Tempelhofer Feld as well as the opportunity to design a wish tree, build with Lego bricks or paint. According to the Senate Department, eleven workshops were offered with 198 children and young people from 15 schools and leisure facilities in six Berlin districts from Steglitz-Zehlendorf to Neukölln.

Dialog workshop and international ideas competition being planned

Five grammar schools, one sixth form college, one community school, eight elementary school and several leisure facilities were involved. More than 300 schools and over 100 youth facilities from all over Berlin were contacted directly beforehand. The results of the children and youth participation are to be published on the project website at https://thf-dialog.berlin.de/ . In addition to the so-called dialog workshop to discuss the future use of the site, an international ideas competition is also planned, into which the results of the discussions will be incorporated. According to the Senate Administration, the first phase of the competition will begin in mid-November and should be completed in the first half of 2025.
