The presidents of Berlin's universities signed the university contracts for the next five years on Friday.
The rectors and Senator for Higher Education and Research Ina Czyborra (SPD) also signed their names at the ceremony in the Wappensaal of the Rotes Rathaus.
The new higher education contracts regulate the funding of the eleven state colleges and universities in Berlin from 2024 to 2028. The annual subsidy during this period will increase from a total of around 1.52 billion euros to a good 1.85 billion euros. According to the Senate Department for Higher Education and Research, the annual increase of five percent is unique compared to the rest of Germany.
