Warning strike of several hours on Friday: BVG not affected

«Streik!»

This Friday, commuters and travelers will once again have to prepare for far-reaching restrictions on long-distance and regional services operated by Deutsche Bahn and other transport companies.

The Railway and Transport Union (EVG) has called for warning strikes lasting several hours in the ongoing wage dispute in the rail industry. Between 3 a.m. on Friday morning and 11 a.m. in the morning, employees in all railroad companies where negotiations are taking place are to stop work, as the union announced.

BVG not on strike

As the Berlin transport authority BVG announced on Wednesday, they will not be on strike this Friday. Buses, trains and ferries will operate as usual. Commuters can thus use these means of transport as an alternative to regional and S-Bahn trains.

Train cancellations and delays for the S-Bahn

Since Deutsche Bahn operates the Berlin S-Bahn, train cancellations on Friday morning and possibly delays later in the day must be expected. In addition, all regional trains in Berlin and Brandenburg are likely to be affected as well since Deutsche Bahn's infrastructure is also on strike. Even though the strike ends at 11 a.m., Deutsche Bahn's long-distance services in particular are likely to come to a virtual standstill throughout the day because trains will not be able to get on the track in the morning.
