The 9-euro social ticket for buses and trains in Berlin will be available at least until the end of the year. The red-green-red Senate decided on the extension on Tuesday, as announced by the Senate Chancellery.
The so-called Berlin-Ticket S was previously limited until the end of April. It is valid in the AB fare zone and costs €9 per month. It is intended to enable people on low incomes to use public transportation. The Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB) gave the go-ahead for the extension in mid-March.
The introduction of a nationwide local transport ticket for €49 is planned for the beginning of May. Parallel to this, the Berlin social ticket will continue to be available. Until last December, it cost €27.50 per month.
