Daido Moriyama: Retrospective

Mass media, advertising, social taboos or simply the theatricality of everyday life - Daido Moriyama's photographic subjects have always fascinated viewers.

Challenging and grumpy, a dog looks at us with its head lowered. You can literally hear the growling and panting. While part of its shaggy fur is brightly illuminated by the sun, its muzzle disappears into the shadows. Does this street dog have any idea that its black and white portrait will become a photographic icon?

About Daido Moriyama

Daido Moriyama was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1938. Over the course of his 60-year career, the artist has significantly changed the way we see photography. He has used his camera not only to document his immediate surroundings and create an artistic social analysis of postwar Japan, but also to question the photographic medium itself.

250 Works and Expansive Installations at C/O Berlin

Moriyama's unmistakable visual language is just as legendary as his numerous publications, which play a central role in his work. For this reason, the retrospective at C/O Berlin presents around 250 works and large-format image installations as well as dozens of never-before-exhibited photo books and magazines by one of the most original and influential artists and street photographers of our time.
