Seddinsee

Segelboot

The Seddinsee is located between Schmöckwitz in the district of Treptow-Köpenick and Gosen in Brandenburg.

The 665-acre Seddinsee is an attraction for water sports enthusiasts: the entire body of water is open for water sports. There are numerous boat moorings on the shore. The lake is surrounded by large wooded areas and parts of its shore are under nature protection. The Seddinsee connects the Spree and Dahme rivers via the Gosener Kanal and the Großer Strom. There are several islands in the lake, including Dommelwall, Nixenwall, Seddinwall, Kleiner Seddinwall and, at the southern end, Weidenwall and Werderchen.

Swimming in the Seddinsee

The Seddinsee has excellent water quality. In summer, visibility may be restricted due to algae growth. Although there is no designated bathing area on the Berlin shore, there is a freely accessible bathing area with a sunbathing lawn on the north shore. Entering the water is easy, as it slopes shallowly along the shore.

Facts about the Seddinsee

The nature reserve Gosener Wiesen and Seddinsee is the largest in Berlin. North of the lake, water plants, water lily fields and wet meadows grow in a jungle-like area. This area is characterized by a rich number of species, including many different kinds of ferns and flowering plants. Cranes, kingfishers and otters also live in the nature reserve.
