Bike Tour: Berlin Wall Tour

This three-and-a-half-hour guided bicycle tour leads to major sites along the Berlin Wall between the former checkpoint Bornholmer Straße and today's government quarter.

The bike tour starts at the Kulturbrauerei in the district of Prenzlauer Berg and follows the route of the Berlin Wall on 15 kilometres between the former checkpoint Bornholmer Straße and the government quarter. Participants will explore remaining segments and sites of the former Wall, which separated Berlin into East and West from 1961 to 1989.

Sites, stories and anecdotes

Major sites on the Berlin Wall Tour include former border checkpoints such as Checkpoint Charlie and death strip sites such as Mauerpark, which has been turned into a popular recreational area after the fall of the Wall. Participants will also visit the Berlin Wall Memorial, the central memorial site of German division at Bernauer Straße with the last intact piece of the Berlin Wall and a guard tower. During the bike tour the guide reveals the political and human dimensions of life in a divided city and tells stories and anecdotes around the Wall, the GDR and the East German secret police Stasi.
