The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Vereinigung - KV) expects that in Berlin all people who have been doubly vaccinated against Corona will also be boostered by the end of February.
"If we keep up the vaccination pace at least like this and the vaccination centers and vaccination sites also keep up their pace, then it is quite realistic," KV board chairman Burkhard Ruppert told Deutsche Presse-Agentur. "According to our calculation, that's 900,000 people at the current time. That can be done."
In Berlin, people can essentially get vaccinated at 2700 doctors' offices, at the Senate's vaccination centers and at vaccination centers. After the turn of the year, however, the campaign lost a little of the immense momentum it had in December. "The system ramps up slowly after the turn of the year," Ruppert explained. "Many practices didn't resume operations, coordinating vaccination appointments and ordering vaccine until the first week of January."
In January, Berlin practices administered 206,748 booster vaccinations so far (as of Jan. 20), according to the KV. In addition, there were about 43,500 second and about 21,200 first vaccinations. Together, that makes just over 271,000 vaccinations. In December, doctors' offices performed just over 657,000 vaccinations: About 520,000 booster, 70,800 secondary and just under 66,000 primary vaccinations. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), around 2.7 million people in Berlin are currently basic immunized, i.e. vaccinated twice against Corona (around 74 percent). Around 1.8 million people have received a booster vaccination (around 50 percent).
