Modernized Neukölln ice rink to open on 2 November

Saisonstart Eisstadion

Young and old ice skating enthusiasts in Neukölln and beyond can rejoice: After a two-year closure, the Neukölln ice stadium will reopen its ice rinks in the Werner-Seelenbinder-Sportpark on November 2.

The facility has been overhauled at great expense and will certainly once again become one of the most popular winter destinations in Neukölln, said district mayor Martin Hikel (SPD). Among other things, the ammonia refrigeration system has been modernized and a new exhaust air system installed in the event of an accident.

"Open ice rink" on November 1

On the evening before the regular opening on November 1, interested parties can skate their first laps for free at the "Open Ice Rink" from 4 pm to 7 pm. From November 2, a single ticket for an ice rink time slot will cost 4 euros (concessions 2 euros). A season ticket costs 100 euros (concessions 30 euros). Skate hire costs between 3.50 euros and 8 euros, depending on the length of hire. All tickets can be purchased at the ticket office of the Eisstadion Neukölln on Oderstraße.

Most of Berlin's ice rinks open during the winter season

Around two weeks ago, the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport announced that all other Berlin ice rinks are also expected to be open during the winter season - with the exception of the Erika-Heß-Eisstadion in Mitte. The Horst Dohm ice stadium in Wilmersdorf, the ice rinks at the Sportforum Berlin in Hohenschönhausen and the Paul-Heyse-Straße sports complex (Prenzlauer Berg) and the Lankwitz ice stadium in Steglitz, which is run by private tenants, were named.
