Holiday swimming courses for around 6,500 children
More than 6,500 children in Berlin learned to swim or improved their swimming skills in intensive courses during the school holidays this year. more

On Wednesday and Thursday, people in Berlin and Brandenburg will have to brace themselves for humid and oppressive weather.
The German Weather Service (DWD) issued an official heat warning from 11 am on Wednesday until 7 pm on Thursday. It will be oppressive and humid, and it will not cool down during the night, a DWD spokeswoman said on Tuesday. This mixture will cause a strong heat load. The southern half of Brandenburg including Potsdam, Berlin and the east of Saxony-Anhalt and Magdeburg will be affected.
The DWD is expecting temperatures of 29 to 32 degrees in Berlin and Brandenburg on Wednesday. During the night, temperatures there should drop to 17 to 20 degrees. Thursday will be humid with temperatures of up to 31 degrees. During the course of the day, showers and sometimes heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected, with thunderstorms also possible in some places.
