The trust center for residential care communities in Berlin has started its work.
The Senate Department for Higher Education and Research, Health and Long-Term Care announced on Monday that liaison officers are now available to residents to advocate for their interests and needs. The position is intended to promote social activities and network the residential community with the neighborhood.
The trust center "Wohnen Pflegen Gemeinschaft - für gelebte Selbstbestimmung durch Sozialraumintegration und Teilhabe" is run by the Verein für Selbstbestimmtes Wohnen im Alter (SWA e.V.). Senator Ina Czyborra said in a press release: "Even if people are in need of care, they need people who listen to them, show understanding and stand up for their concerns." According to the Senate Department, more than 6,200 people in need of care were cared for in 775 shared care homes in Berlin in 2023.
