The trade union Verdi has called on employees in the aviation security sector at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport to go on an all-day warning strike on Thursday.
As the union announced on Tuesday, employees working in passenger and goods control, cargo control and service areas are called to strike.
According to Verdi, the warning strike at BER will begin at 3.30 a.m. and end at 11.59 p.m. As the airport announced on Tuesday evening, no passenger flights will take off from BER on Thursday. Arrivals may also be canceled - according to the airport, this will be decided by the respective airlines. 170 planes were scheduled to take off and land at BER Airport on Thursday.
It is not only at BER Airport that flight passengers will have to brace themselves for flight cancellations and delays this Thursday: The warning strike by aviation security staff is to apply nationwide. The last time there were warning strikes in aviation security was in March last year. At that time, it was about the working conditions of employees who had achieved significant wage increases in recent years.
