A number of famous Berliners are using video clips to promote participation in the rerun of the Bundestag election in parts of Berlin on February 11.
The state electoral office's campaign entitled "Berlin braucht deine Stimme!" ("Berlin needs your vote!") was launched two weeks ago on Wednesday. Several video contributions are now online and a number of others are to follow, as announced by the state election administration. For example, the Director General of the Berlin Natural History Museum, Johannes Vogel, TV and radio host Hadnet Tesfai and the Director of the Berlin Wall Foundation, Axel Klausmeier, are calling on people to take part in the election.
The video messages will be published on state election officer Stephan Bröchler's YouTube channel and on his homepage. Contributions from the President of the Universität der Künste, Norbert Palz, the founder of the Antonio Amadeu Foundation, Anetta Kahane, and the author Lea Streisand are to follow. Further videos with the director of the Berliner Ensemble, Oliver Reese, the president of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, Hermann Parzinger, the actress Katrin Sass and the writer Max Czollek, among others, are planned as well. According to Bröchler, the aim of the campaign is to motivate as many of the 548,675 Berliners entitled to vote as possible to exercise their right to vote in the partial repeat election to the German Bundestag.
