Dangerous icy conditions formed on roads in Berlin and Brandenburg on Thursday afternoon. The fire departments were increasingly deployed. Accidents have already occurred.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warned of an increased risk of icy conditions due to freezing rain from the afternoon. Caution was called for. The warning of severe icy conditions is valid until Thursday evening, 10 pm. According to the DWD, there is still a risk of slippery conditions due to freezing drizzle or sleet until 10 am on Friday.

The Berlin fire department wrote on the online platform X, formerly Twitter, that the slippery roads were leading to a state of emergency and a high workload for the fire department. All available ambulances were in use. The fire department in Potsdam announced on X that there had been several traffic accidents in the state capital due to black ice.
