Five Berlin-Brandenburg projects receive innovation award

Brandenburg's Minister for Economics, Labor and Energy Jörg Steinbach and Berlin's Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises Franziska Giffey.

Five projects have won the Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Award. The prize is endowed with 75,000 euros, the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs and the Brandenburg Ministry of Economics jointly announced on Friday evening.

The winners were Delta Engineering und Chemistry GmbH for more sustainable chrome plating, HyPhox for the development of rapid tests in laboratory quality, Porous GmbH for the development of an ultrasound procedure that can be used to detect the bone disease osteoporosis earlier in future, Pramomolecular GmbH for the fight against a tumor-causing cancer protein and Sonocrete GmbH for the reduction of CO2 emissions using a cement premixing plant.

"With their pioneering products and solutions, they contribute to the fact that we are now one of the driving forces of the German economy and together form an up-and-coming, innovative East German economic region," said Berlin Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey (SPD) according to the press release. Her counterpart in Brandenburg, Jörg Steinbach (SPD), said: "The award winners focus on improving the quality of life for people and nature. The problems we face today can only be solved with the help of such creative minds."
