Deutschland Ticket valid for some long-distance trains in Berlin and Brandenburg

ICE

From this Friday, the Deutschland Ticket for local public transport will also be valid on some long-distance routes through Berlin and Brandenburg.

The Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association VBB has concluded an agreement to this effect with the railroad subsidiary DB Fernverkehr. This was announced by the association on Thursday. In future, holders of the 49-euro subscription ticket can use it on the IC connections between Berlin Hbf - Elsterwerda and Potsdam Hbf - Cottbus as well as on the ICE connection Berlin Südkreuz - Prenzlau at no extra charge. The ticket is still not valid for all other long-distance trains.

Long negotiations on exemption regulation

The Deutschland Ticket subscription is valid nationwide on all local and regional buses and trains. It costs 49 euros per month and can be canceled monthly. The ticket is not usually valid on long-distance trains operated by Deutsche Bahn or its competitor Flixtrain. Discussions between Deutsche Bahn and VBB about an exemption for connections in Brandenburg and Berlin lasted for months.
