Water prices in Berlin will remain the same in the coming years.
The Senate decided on Tuesday that, on balance, the State of Berlin will forego part of its previously planned profit of 57.8 million euros for each of the years 2024 and 2025. "In times of rising costs in many areas of daily life, this is very good news," said Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey (SPD).
Giffey explained that the Senate's decision refers to the years 2024 and 2025. She added that an agreement had been reached that water prices would also remain stable in 2026. However, after that an increase in charges would be necessary so that the state-owned water utilities could continue to operate sensibly and invest in the water network.
