The 29-euro ticket for Berlin public transport is now available. "A promise kept," said Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey on Monday at the start of ticket sales.
Berlin is offering the discounted monthly ticket as the successor to the nationwide 9-euro ticket. For 29 euros, buses, trams and trains can be used within Berlin's city limits. "Berlin shows how a concrete relief for Berliners, more climate protection, modern mobility and participation can be brought together," Giffey stated.
Senator Bettina Jarasch emphasized that hundreds of thousands of people would benefit from the ticket. With this offer, the Berlin Senate was leading the way nationwide, the politician said. "We will now work intensively to ensure that a nationwide local transport ticket will be available from January," said Jarasch. The Berlin 29-euro ticket is limited to three months because the traffic light coalition has held out the prospect of a nationwide ticket for the beginning of 2023. It is only available by subscription and is valid for the AB fare zone.
