Due to the half marathon, motorists in Berlin - and especially in Mitte - will have to plan for road closures and thus longer travel times and detours on Sunday (April 3, 2022).
As the traffic information centre announced on Twitter this morning, the street Unter den Linden between Brandenburger Tor and Friedrichstraße has been closed in both directions since early morning. The Straße des 17. Juni, where the starting point of the half marathon is located, and the Ebertstraße between Behrenstraße and Scheidemannstraße have already been closed since Friday evening. Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße, Heinrich-von-Gagern-Straße, Annemarie-Renger-Straße and Paul-Löbe-Allee are also impassable due to the sporting event.
The traffic information centre recommends using U-Bahn and S-Bahn trains due to the many road closures. If it is necessary to use the car, the A100 city motorway and the Tiergarten tunnel should be used. The half marathon starts at 9.25 a.m. for inline skaters, followed by wheelchair users and hand cyclists, before the first runners start at 10.05 a.m. on the 21-kilometre course. The road closures are to be dismantled by 6 a.m. on Monday.
