According to the organizers, the peace action "Sound of Peace" on Sunday (March 20, 2022) in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin will be "Europe's largest musical rally" against the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Creative artists have joined forces to send a message to the world, they said on Friday. "We are a peace movement. We don't just want to be loud and visible for one day, we want to change and move something in the long term," reads the call for the event. Registered are 20,000 participants.

Numerous bands and artists want to perform

Among those scheduled to perform at the Brandenburg Gate are Adel Tawil, Antje Schomaker, BenjRose, Cassandra Steen, Clueso, Deine Cousine, Dritte Wahl, Fatoni, Fortuna Ehrenfeld, Hartmut Engler from Pur, In Extremo, Joris, Lina Maly feat. Enno Bunger, Madeline Juno, Mia., Michael Patrick Kelly, Mine, Peter Maffay, Philipp Poisel, Revolverheld, Rolf Stahlhofen & Spielvereinigung, Sarah Connor, Silbermond, The BossHoss or Zoe Wees. Further commitments are expected. Natalia Klitschko, wife of the mayor of Kiev and ex-professional boxer Vitali Klitschko, is also to speak. The TV stations ProSieben and SAT.1 plan to broadcast the peace rally live from 3 p.m. on both channels into the evening.

Fundraising campaign to support the victims of the war in Ukraine

The goal of "Sound of Peace" is to collect many donations to support the victims of the war in Ukraine. "Music is always a way to express protest. But music just also has this wonderful talent to bring people together. And I think, especially on Sunday, this stage will be a kind of outlet for that, for the need that so many people in Germany have all over the world: Namely, that this war should end and that we need peace in this world," said Mieze Katz, singer of Mia. "We want to reach as many people as possible and show that maybe we can all change something a little bit together," said Sascha Vollmer of The BossHoss. Minister of Culture Claudia Roth (Greens) had already announced her support for the project.
