People fleeing the war in Ukraine can find temporary accommodation in Berlin at the Ankunfszentrum (arrival center) in Berlin-Reinickendorf.
This was announced by the Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs on Friday (February 25, 2022). The Ankunfstzentrum in Oranienburger Straße 285, 13437 Berlin-Reinickendorf is available as temporary accommodation immediately over the weekend. Accordingly, a separate arrival structure is being established in Berlin, and a first lodging for war refugees is to open shortly.
Senator for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs, Katja Kipping, emphasized the humanistic role of Berlin: "We must now do everything in Berlin to give the war refugees from Ukraine safe accommodation." Kipping further called for a swift nationwide legal basis for accepting the war refugees from Ukraine. "I also demand that the refugees be allowed to take up work here. We don't know how long this war will last."
