After the storm on Thursday, the calmer weather is expected to last only for a short time: on Friday (Feb. 18, 2022), the next storm is expected to cause trouble.
According to a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD), Berlin and Brandenburg will be affected by hurricane "Zeynep" in the second half of the day. Starting in the evening hours, gale-force winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour are to be expected. The northern half of Brandenburg and the Berlin area will be particularly affected. The weather will remain stormy on Saturday: according to the DWD, the wind is not expected to weaken significantly until Saturday evening.
According to Deutsche Bahn, restrictions on train services due to the weather conditions are still to be expected. Passengers are advised to inform themselves about possible disruptions before starting their journey. The storm "Ylenia" had already disrupted rail and air traffic on Thursday. A spokesman for the fire department said on Friday morning that the Berlin fire department had to respond to more than 1,300 incidents.
