The annual collection of discarded Christmas trees by the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) came to an end on January 21. Now, the latecomers are still being collected.
The collection of latecomers is organized with the help of the "Christmas tree discoverer service", the BSR announced, Tree discovery sites can be reported via an online form or by phone at (030) 759 249 00. "However, this is not an extension of the regular collection campaign," Sebastian Harnisch from BSR emphasized. The trees are collected with the normal domestic waste. "Anyone who reports a Christmas tree can therefore not expect it to be gone the next day."
Anyone who wants to get rid of their old Christmas tree more quickly should therefore take it directly to a BSR recycling center. The trees do not belong in the organic waste garbage can because the trunks and branches cannot be processed by the biogas plants.
