Holiday swimming courses for around 6,500 children

In view of the rising number of Coronavirus infections due to the Omicron variant, mandatory attendance at Berlin schools is suspended for the time being.
From Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2022) onwards, parents will be able to decide for themselves whether their child attends school or learns and works on assignments and projects at home, Senator for Education Astrid-Sabine Busse (SPD) announced on Monday. This new regulatino will initially apply until the end of February. a statement by the education administration added that im-class teaching will nevertheless remain the "standard form".
"Schools will provide learning opportunities for all pupils as much as possible. Should parents choose not to have their child present at school, this must be communicated informally in writing to the school immediately." In addition, during the first week of school after the winter holidays, the testing frequency at schools will be increased to five times a week.
