The architects Sergei Tchoban and Sergey Kuznetsov created a museum for architectural drawings in Berlin that houses the internationally renowned collection of the Tchoban Foundation.
With this museum, the architect and passionate collector Sergei Tchoban realized his vision of an ideal place for architectural drawing. The Museum for Architectural Drawing at Pfefferberg thus joins the long list of important cultural institutes in the German capital. The new museum building is located at the former brewery site between Schönhauser Allee and Teutoburger Platz in Prenzlauer Berg. The museum does not only house exhibits showing exceptional architecture - its building is a masterpiece of contemporary architecture in and of itself.
The eye-catching fire-wall structure of the museum closes off a row of typical old Berlin buildings. The four-story solid building with a glass staggered floor is a special example of contemporary architecture, both in terms of its construction and its design and the choice of materials. Its expressive formal language is unmistakable and yet characterized by a sensitive attitude towards the site and its use. Colored concrete and glass makes up the building's facades, which are rich in contrast and multi-layered in design. The museum building, with a floor area of approximately 490 square meters, includes the reception area, two exhibition rooms, and the museum depot.
