UFA Film Nights

UFA Filmnächte 2023

The UFA Film Nights honor the film avant-garde of the 1920s. The films are shown open air in front of a spectacular backdrop on Museum Island and accompanied by live music.

The cinematic art of this period continues to have a massive impact on filmmaking today, regardless of any technical or zeitgeist developments. The UFA Film Nights is also a thank you to Berlin, a city that has internalized the cultural and economic power of filmmaking and created excellent conditions for filmmakers.

Programm 2024

The films will be shown open air in front of a spectacular backdrop on Museum Island and accompanied by live music. Three classics are once again on the program in 2024:

  • The movie nights start with Saxophon-Susi by Carl Lamač. The film will be accompanied by the film orchestra The Sprockets to a composition by their saxophonist Frido ter Beek.
  • The documentary Die Stadt der Millionen. Ein Lebensbild Berlins will be performed on the second evening of the film nights. DJ Raphaël Marionneau will set the digitally restored version of the Filmmuseum Potsdam to music live on location at the turntables.
  • The festival ends with two Ernst Lubitsch films: Kohlhiesels Töchter and Ich möchte kein Mann sein. The first film will be accompanied by the Metropolis Orchestra Berlin with a new composition by Florian C. Reithner. The second film marks the debut of the five-member Ensemble Narrativ under the direction of Maria Reich and Florian C. Reithner.
