Open Air Installation: Hold Freedom Up High!

35 years since the fall of the Wall

Visualization of the installation.

A kilometer-long installation designed by Berliners reminds the capital of the fall of the Wall 35 years ago.

Thousands of signs and posters are put up along the former course of the Wall in Mitte and Kreuzberg. Some of these consist of historical material from the Peaceful Revolution. However, the vast majority of the exhibits have been created by Berliners over the past weeks and months. School classes have contributed to the open-air exhibition, as have senior citizens, refugees, artists, celebrities and neighborhood clubs. Together, new and old posters symbolize the dialogue between the wishes, dreams, demands and hopes of today and the past.
