The Berliner Theatertreffen ("Berlin Theatre Encounter") is the most important theatre festival in Germany, reuniting actors, theatre professionals, journalists and guests from all over the world in Berlin
In 2025, the festival will present all forms of theatre, from dance to puppetry, music theatre and theatrical installations for the 62nd time. A Theatertreffen camp and evening events as well as guest performances and readings from the Stückemarkt will take place. The ten plays nominated by the jury will be shown.
At the heart of the Theatertreffen each year are the ten most remarkable productions, which are selected by an independent jury of critics from around 400 performances of the season.
A rich supporting programme complements the showcase of German-language theatre: Discussions with renowned guests from the worlds of culture, politics and business establish links between theatre and current socio-political issues, while award ceremonies, audience discussions, premiere parties and concerts attract theatre fans to the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
