«Ich bin ein Berliner»! 60 years after then U.S. President John F. Kennedy expressed his solidarity with the people of Berlin, the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district is hosting a celebration commemorating the historic event.
On June 26, 1963, Kennedy delivered a now legendary speech in front of Schöneberg Town Hall. 60 years after this speech and 75 years after the start of the Airlift, the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district is inviting people to a public celebration commemorating the historic events.
The festival is dedicated to the German-American friendship - a theme that will be highlighted musically and culinary. During an official ceremony, high-ranking speakers will debate the relevance of the Kennedy speech and the Airlift for Berlin and Germany. The original speech will be broadcast on a large screen. Further program items will be announced closer to the event.
