David Hockney: Landscapes in Dialogue

David Hockney is considered one of the most influential contemporary artists. With «Four Seasons», the painter focuses on the seasonal changes in nature in his homeland.

The large-format landscape cycle showing a group of trees during the four seasons reveals his engagement with the art of previous centuries. In addition to the four paintings from the Würth Collection, the exhibition in the Wandelhalle of the Gemäldegalerie therefore also shows selected landscape depictions from the Kupferstichkabinett and the Alte Nationalgalerie.
